Parenting Program

Smiling child in the Parenting Program

Services are provided to parents with developmental and other disabilities and to parents with children who have developmental disabilities. Parenting skills training is provided in the home of the family and concentrates on the stages of child development, child management techniques, nurturing of children, personal problem solving, and using community resources. For families with developmentally disabled children, early intervention services are provided with the goal of working with the family to support the development of their child and by supporting the family's routine and way of life. Each family is viewed as having a rich and unique culture and they are supported and encouraged to interact with their children within their community in ways they choose to participate.
